Within the Sainsbury's Argos Commercial function, we are looking for a Synergies Project Manager to join the team. Working closely with the Commercial Synergy Programme Manager.

This is a brand new role to the business, as, over the course of the next 3 years, Sainsbury's is committed to delivering significant Commercial synergies, as identified as part of the Argos acquisition case.

This programme will comprise several projects owned by members of the Sainsbury's Argos Commercial Leadership Team (SACLT) and delivered through their teams in the business. The SACLT will have oversight of all key projects and receive regular updates on progress.

The Synergy Programme Office will establish a process for bringing this visibility to the SACLT at a portfolio level and identify interdependencies, risks etc. across the various projects for discussion in a timely manner. The Synergy Project Manager will be responsible to help provide the SACLT assurance that the Commercial team is on track towards the successful delivery of the target synergy savings.

The role will require a high degree of influence at senior levels to ensure all projects deliver to agreed targets. This role will champion synergy delivery across Sainsbury's Argos and provide support to key stakeholders across Commercial.

What will you need to know?

Support the production of a three-year plan for synergy deliver across the entire Commercial programme implement a robust governance structure at the programme level
Work with the Synergy PMO to ensure that all synergy workstreams (in the business) are set up with clear owners, objectives, timelines and resources
Own and update the Commercial Synergy three-year plan, gathering information from across the workstreams and providing updates to key stakeholders
Ensure that each workstream has identified success criteria and key deliverables and these are agreed with the workstream owner and PMO
Ensure there is regular visibility of workstream progress to key stakeholders including the SACLT, including collating and summarising regular updates
Prepare and check the regular reporting to the SACLT on progress and delivery of the overall programme
Identify through a network of colleagues within the business dependencies, possible failings and resource requirements for each workstream ensuring these are tracked and appropriately monitored
Where dependencies exist, to act as the conduit of information on these and initiate cross functional activity to maintain momentum
Support workstream owners, and the wider Commercial team, by providing insight into potential concerns and support them by identifying resolutions at pace
Ensure that remedial action is initiated in response to workstream progress where necessary
Engage cross-functionally with other project teams to ensure alignment in the overall aims of the PMO
Co-ordinate with the Non-Food Commercial Planning PMO to align synergy projects to business as usual activity across Sainsbury's Argos
Provide full analytics support across Commercial Synergy workstream

What do you need to know?

Previous experience in a Commercial role is essential
Proven experience managing a complex programme, assimilating large amounts of information, and engaging with multiple stakeholders
Strong project management skills and familiarity with PMO setup
Ability to interact with and influence senior stakeholders and through understanding of cross functional projects
Appropriate reporting balancing corporate standards with needs of different project complexity
Understanding of internal business structures and cross functional dependencies of each division
Strong communication and presentation skills
Proven ability to work well within a senior team, supporting and advising workstream leads
