Your new company
This client is a public-private partnership with a mission to accelerate the deployment of low carbon technology in the UK. For some technologies this has meant developing the technology itself but in others the required steps are more about demonstration and market development.

The company is progressing a clean gas project that seeks to explore what it would take to build a new (gas-fired) power plant in the UK. The second phase of this project is currently starting where potential investors are investigating the power station fund consenting, engineering and financial work to take the project to Financial Close.

Your new role
Purpose of the role is to:

• Build relationship and negotiation process with Government
• Identify key government "wants", negotiation currencies/elements (including non-core project value such as regional regeneration)
• Develop options and identify issues for the project team and investors to consider/address
• Negotiate a support package with Government that meets investor needs to commit to FEED
• Act as part of the commercial and project team to deliver a good solution to investors and Government.

What you'll need to succeed

• Negotiating and closing long term/large scale commercial agreements
• Asset-related contracts including gainshare arrangements
• Detailed knowledge of normal contract terms and ability to develop creative solutions
• Experience of the following are valued but not essential:
  
  • integrated (or "project on project") development
  • wide range of contract types (such as open-book approaches)
  • project finance

You will need to be able to identify and anticipate what is needed and motivate self and others to achieve this and be able to understand the engineering development process and constraints and interfaces in a timely and constructive manner. Ability to work constructively with internal teams and external parties to achieve shared objectives. Being a creative problem-solver, willing to introduce and test innovative approaches is highly desirable along with a passion for making an impact on climate change.

What you'll get in return
The role is to last until Dec 2017 but there will be a review and possible option to extend although this is not guaranteed. This project is a cutting edge project and will be a high profile project within the UK Energy market.
