My client is looking add an experienced Fitter to their team to repair and maintain their garden related machinery.
Purpose of role
To contribute to the provision of an effective and efficient Transport, Maintenance and Repair Services
Main Responsibilities
To Supervise and train Apprentices and Motor Vehicle Fitters.
To perform all duties using methods in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
To diagnose, identify and carry out major and minor servicing, preventative maintenance to vehicles and plant in accordance with the schedules specifications.
To carry out repair, remedial work, inspection to breakdowns at work sites, depots or workshops throughout the Sheffield with a minimum of supervision.
To assist in the recovery of vehicles and plant to depot workshops.
To prepare vehicles for MOT testing.
To carry out pre-delivery inspections of new vehicles and plant in accordance with the Department's schedule and user specifications for additional equipment.
To inspect, set up, service and dismantle specialist equipment used on a seasonal basis, e.g. Winter Maintenance equipment.
To inspect, maintain and repair garage and depot based equipment and notify Workshop Controller of defective or faulty equipment and plant.
To complete all appropriate documentation as instructed.
To undertake driving duties as required on a range of vehicles in relation to collection and delivery of vehicles for repair and collection of parts from Suppliers.
To notify Workshop Supervisor of defective or faulty equipment and plant.
To liaise with Workshop Supervisor, Foreman, Bodyshop and other Transport personnel in matters relating to vehicle repairs, problems etc.
To work from any location as required adopting the work patterns in operation at that work site including shift and weekend working where required, also on call arrangements.
Experience/Qualifications/Training
Ability to work effectively with the minimum of supervision.
Awareness of Health and Safety aspects of work.
Ability to communicate effectively with the public, colleagues, and Managers.
Reliable and punctual.
Flexible, prepared to undertake other tasks associated with the post.
Awareness of Equal Opportunities.
Must have served a recognised Mechanics Apprenticeship.
Clean driving licence.
Work Related Circumstances
Physically fit.
Able to lift, bend and work in confined places.
Prepared to work rota system including weekends/nights.
