Location: Brighton
Salary: GBP25-40k

About the Business Analyst (BA, SQL) role:
This role requires an experienced business analyst to work as part of an established team focused on delivering a web interface for an existing Health & Social Care products.
There are 3 key areas of responsibility:
•Gather the requirements from the Product Owner and other Stakeholders, and own the conversion of the requirements into stories and supporting documents.
•Planning, management, progress monitoring and delivery to agreed timescales of all user stories and supporting documentation required.
•Attendance of daily development scrums and Sprint meetings.
As a member of the Product Development department you will be required to ensure that the department responsibilities are met - maintaining a high standard of quality in its procedures, processes and the software produced. You will be working within an Agile development environment, using Scrum and 2 weekly sprints; and will be expected to actively contribute to this process.
Technical
•Able to perform trend and data analysis based on what is being held in SQL Databases across products and present findings to the Product team.
•Some understandings of Web Technologies (including Microsoft .NET Web, Web Services, SQL Server) would be an advantage?"
Documentation
•Understand business process management and business requirements of the Product Owner and translate them to specific software requirements.
•Take input from Product Owner and appropriately and accurately applies comments/feedback.
•Write and maintain User Stories for new and existing software processes.
•Analyse business processes to identify problems and propose solutions that improve the business process.
•Document complex business operations for software developers and testers.
•Document and analyse the required information and data.
•Work with the quality assurance team to ensure that the software meets the required quality standards.
Product
•Learn and gain a detailed understanding of the development projects in order to be able to document and deliver necessary changes to existing functionality or new features - appreciating the effects the changes may have on other areas.
•Develop and maintain understanding of customers' business processes and requirements.
•Become a product expert.
•Review software formally and informally to ensure requirements and business documentation have been adhered to.
Project
•Plan and produce accurate lists of documentation tasks with timescales within projects.
•Ensure that high risk tasks are identified.
•Monitor and report on your progress for the tasks assigned.
Communication
•Liaise with all members of the development department to ensure that anything that may affect the successful outcome of the project is promptly highlighted.
•Attend and contribute to meetings when required
•Communicate changes that may impact other areas of the software and affect other team members.
•Be aware of project plans and how own tasks relate to the overall development schedule.
Skills and Attributes of the Business Analyst (BA, SQL):
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
•Good understanding of SQL databases would be an advantage
•Knowledge of basic scripting languages would be an advantage
•Able to grasp technical concepts and new product functionality quickly.
•Attention to detail and consistent application of standards.
•Experience of documenting large and complex business software systems.
•Ability to take on the user perspective and to reflect this within the stories.
•Ability to interpret a high level specification into user stories.
•Thorough knowledge of agile development methods, processes and best practices
•Good organisational skills.
•Self-motivated with the ability to work on own and within a team.
•Ability to work to tight timescales.
•Able to be flexible and adapt to change.
