Acorn Recruitment is seeking a Quality Engineer for a fast paced, global manufacturing business in Bristol due to continued growth and brand development.

Salary - GBP30,000 to GBP35,000pa

Rotating shifts - 0700-15.40 and 1400 to 12.40 (Monday to Friday)

Main scope of the role:
Responsible for Quality Engineering Processes and Continuous Improvement of Quality technologies for the factory.

Key Result Areas:
DELIVERY
*Working with the Quality Process Engineering Leader in resolving quality process issues, identifying areas for improvement and developing actions to address deviations.
*Responsible for the following measures with the manufacturing cell and the associated actions:
ZHT (Zero Hour Test)
First pass yield
Short reliability Scrap
*Measurement and reporting on the Critical Characteristics (CPk Data Collection), associated to the manufacturing lines.
*Use of proprietary system to raise and manage supplier issues.

QUALITY
*Measurement, monitoring and maintenance of Quality Standards.
*Support Line Trials for Quality input and assessment.
*Generate quarantine reports and follow up on corrective actions.
*Carry out root cause analysis of quality issues, liaising with Cell Leader to prevent reoccurrence.

COST
*Reduce cost through the reduction of waste.

*Contribution to the creation and maintenance of a safe working environment
*Support the Group Leader in adherence to Health and Safety Regulations at all levels through reporting of concerns.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
*Establish and maintain positive relationships with people at all levels, including regular communication with team members and support functions.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education
Good level of general and further education
Degree in engineering or science related subject is desirable

Experience
Experience of working with a high volume manufacturing area
Able to demonstrate personal success in the achievement of continuous process improvement activities against a clear set of objectives
Proven track record of working with external suppliers in the formulation of action plans/containment plans for Problem Resolution
Used to working in an environment of high production volumes and complex products.
Experience of working within a large organisation (desirable)
Experience with NPI and supplier approvals (PPAP) (desirable)

Skills and Knowledge
Principles of metrology and GD&T
Competent in the use of Corrective Action
Reporting Systems and Problem Solving techniques
Knowledge of SPC Data Collection and analysis of data
Computer-literate, being fully conversant with MS Excel, Word and Power Point.
Green belt trained or practical experience in 6s
Able to use Advance Quality Planning techniques (Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans) (desirable)
Black belt certified (desirable)
Technical background or extensive working knowledge in one of the following areas (desirable):
Metal stamping;
Material sciences;
Metalurgy.
