My client is a multi-academy trust Established in 2013, this is an extremely exciting time to be joining an organisation that is currently home to 22 Church of England primary academies and experiencing rapid growth.
We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Management Accountant with at least an AAT Level 3 qualification and experience of using integrated finance systems to join the growing team.
As a member of the trusts Business Support team, you will play a critical part in aiding managerial planning and decision making by preparing, developing and analysing appropriate financial information. You will develop the support given to the academies within the trust and schools joining the trust to ensure the production of accurate and timely academy financial and budgetary information.
Specific responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation of regular monthly and ad-hoc budget monitoring data and ensure all variances are highlighted and explained, with input from budget holders as necessary
- Prepare regular and accurate monthly and ad-hoc budget monitoring data in a format suitable for presentation to Directors
- Present financial information to Directors and Committees as required
- Ensure that month end checklists are completed
- Assist in the performance assessment of academy finance teams
- Support the preparation of revenue and capital budgets for each academy within the Trust and the preparation of a consolidated budget forecast for the Trust
- Identify back office efficiencies and work with the Business Director to implement these
- Complete the financial due diligence prior to academy conversions
- Undertake accounting for capital projects including monitoring grant income, plus accurate and timely reporting to the Education Funding Agency
- Contribute towards large procurement exercises, including the procurement of a management information system
- Advise on and implement key finance system improvements
- Identify and integrate financial and non financial KPIs
- Ensure accurate recording and advise on the maintenance and replacement of fixed assets at each academy and the trust
- Offering advice and guidance on academy funding
- Identify training needs and coordinate the training of academy and Head Office finance personnel, developing an inter school network of finance staff
- Assist in the annual audit process, the closure of accounts and the preparation of the annual statement of accounts and audit findings
- Assist in the development of trust wide financial policies to ensure they are up to date, fit for purpose and compliant with the ESFAs requirements, including ongoing development of the Financial Regulations Manual and ensuring group wide standardised processes.
- Ensure the accounting software is fit for purpose and used to its full potential and in line with the Trusts instructions
- To promote and deliver training sessions to support the Trusts member academies to ensure they are making the best use of their financial management system
- To keep fully up to date with the financial management system operated by the Trust and by the member academies
- On occasions, operate the financial management system for the Trust. This could include raising invoices, purchase orders and bank reconciliation
- Manage key projects within the Business Support Team, ensuring that resources are utilised effectively and deadlines are met, using sound project management techniques
- Assist the Business Director to ensure that robust financial practices are in place at the Trust and at the member academies
- To assist in the development and delivery of the Trusts improvement plan
- Participate in and support the performance management policy of the Trust
- To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety, equal opportunities, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Provide professional advice to the Business Director and senior executives
- Assist the Business Director with due diligence and financial modelling on new projects
- Deputise for the Business Director in their absence in the areas of expertise within this job description
- To contribute to and support the Christian ethos of the Trust
- To participate in tender exercises where required
- To support the Trusts senior staff where required
- To undertake any other duties as can be reasonably required by the Trust
In return a basis salary of £28000 to £32000 is on offer depending on experience. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing supportive Academy in a great location.
