Quantity Surveyor

Location: Guildford, Surrey
Salary: GBP45,000.00 - GBP60,000, DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full Time

The BTU Group of Companies is privately owned Building Services Company and consists of Maintenance Division, Installations Division, Pool Services and Weyside Management Services. We offer a full design, installation, maintenance and repair service to domestic and commercial plumbing, heating, hot water, gas and electrical systems.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced, chartered Quantity Surveyor to join our Installation Team based from our Head Office in Guildford. This is a vital role within the company, the person will be expected to work professionally, un-supervised and represent the company at senior levels.

Reporting to the Director and Senior Contract Manager the QS responsibilities would include:

• Review tender documents with Senior Management
• Summarise tender requirements
• Consider value engineering solutions
• Attend pre-commencement meetings.
• Review contract terms and re-negotiate where necessary
• Create programme of works
• Create material procurement schedule for issue to Procurement Manager
• Establish and procure subcontract packages.
• Certify and arrange subcontract stage payments.
• Manage and certify subcontractor variations
• Prepare regular applications to clients
• Create and agree with client contract variations as they occur
• Review and report supply chain performance
• Offer occasional support to the Estimating function
• Review outturn costs against target and tender.

The role will cover a variety of contracts, ranging from GBP 100k to GBP 2m and there will be regular travel required for site visits across England

The ideal Quantity Surveyor will hold a Chartered QS qualification and a demonstrable track record of performing a similar role, ideally with knowledge of various forms of contracts and experience working for public sector clients in framework environments. Commercial understanding of the industry, supply chain and specialist contractor requirements is desirable.

It is essential that the person is articulate, confident and manages time well with excellent technical, administration and IT skills while also being confident and personable with the ability and flair to present ideas to clients with confidence.
