We have a new vacancy for an Area Retail Centre Manager.

As a Area Retail Centre Manager you will take responsibility for the overall performance of several Retail Centres within a region. Reporting to the Cylinder General Manager you will create a vibrant, commercially focused business unit that shares best practice and promotes an environment of continuous improvement. This pivotal role is key to driving change through the cylinder business and is intrinsic to delivering the 3 year plan.

Key elements to the role include financial accountability for sites within your area, improving commercial and operational performance, ensuring correct levels of resource including cylinder stock levels and maintaining excellent health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities of the role will include;

• Work closely with the wider business line e.g. Marketing, Regional Sales, Finance to develop a business plan for each centre, encompassing commercial and operational activities, identifying areas of opportunity and future potential.
• Develop the regional cylinder business within the geographical radius of several centres.
• Maintaining existing customer base while capitalising on new opportunity.
• Full financial responsibility for the regional centres
• Work alongside internal credit control team to effectively manage customer debt. .
• Raise the regional brand awareness, building presence through local campaigns, sponsorship and activity.
• Ensure all centres meet and best represents the Flogas corporate brand and image.
• Improve the customer experience.
• Managing the area operational costs.
• Agree staffing levels ensuring centres operate effectively.
• Oversee regional logistics, working closely with the Centre Managers to devise innovative, flexible, cost effective service solutions that meet customer expectation.
• Work closely with Regional Sales Managers and the National Cylinder Control Manager to ensure adequate resource and stock levels to meet customer demand • Ensure that Centre Managers comply with company processes and procedures relating to sales, stocks, financial controls within the operating system (CODAS)
• Complying to Operating Procedures and Works Instructions
• Managing safety across all centres in accordance with the Safety Management system to meet compliance and driving a safety culture
• Responsibility for centre adherence to transport legislation and compliance, including vehicle maintenance, Drivers hours, Tachograph and WTD regulations.
• Ensure all HSE processes and best practice is adopted consistently across all sites, promoting increased reporting e.g. near miss reporting.
• Hazard identification and risk assessment of routine tasks and maintenance.
• Full line management responsibility for all staff based at centres; including regular reviews, training and development plans by site, objective setting and performance management in line with company policies and
procedures.

What do we want from you?

• Ability to combine operational and sales performance to produce effective, area sales business plans.
• Strong people manager. Experienced in selection programmes, recruitment, motivation, training and appraise personnel effectively.
• Track record of delivering excellent levels of customer service.
• Able to work closely with customers, influencing, understanding and resolving varied situations.
• Demonstrate commercial and financial acumen. Management of costs, margins, volumes and budgets.
• Numerical and literate with group presentation skills.
• Effective communicator skills with both internal and external customers. Able to influence at all levels across the business.
• Computer literate, including competence in Outlook, Word & Excel
• Prepared to work flexibly to accommodate seasonal influences
• Good working knowledge of current Health & Safety and employment law, transport legislation
• Full Driving licence

Desirable Skills:

• Holder of a Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (CPC)
• Experience of CODAS or similar operating systems
• Experience of ADR / CDG Regulations
