LOCATION: Bradford, West Yorkshire
JOB TITLE: Financial Controller for Professional Football Club
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary depending on experience
WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday 9am- 5pm but must be flexible around match days should the need arise
Key Responsibilities of the Financial Controller for Professional Football Club to include:-
• To oversee all aspects of financial control in the business with particular emphasis on Information Technology and its impact on the business activities.
• Providing financial information and strategic support for the business to senior management.
• Preparation of management information, in format as desired by senior management from source data.
• Preparing timely monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and VAT Returns to a strict deadline.
• Preparing results, budget variances and adhoc analysis.
• Be involved in financial planning, profit and loss, maintenance of assets and liquidity planning.
• Oversee internal financial controls including ledger and bank, quarterly VAT Returns and PAYE and National Insurance reconciliations.
• Correct recording and controlling of monies received and paid.
• Providing meaningful commentary and analysis of financial data.
• Preparation and reporting income and expense forecasts for senior management.
• Developing, managing and assisting finance staff.
• Reviewing new and existing business models and capital appropriations.
• Working as part of a team of managers for a multi-faceted business organisation.
• Identify and develop controls and processes to ensure all risks and opportunities are highlighted.
THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and resourceful accountant with a proven ability to provide key financial data, supporting and expecting to assist in important business decisions. You will have excellent communication skills and must be able to build group relationships both within and external to the finance department. The successful Financial Controller will be organised, with an excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple projects. Our client is looking for someone who has the ability to advise within a professional sporting business environment including the implementation of strategies to reduce costs and increase profitability.
Key experience essential for the role of Financial Controller for Professional Football Club based in Bradford, West Yorkshire:
• Must live within a commutable distance of Bradford, West Yorkshire
• It would be expected that the successful candidate would have at least 3 years' experience in a similar role as a financial controller.
• Will have the ability to combine strong business acumen with effective management skills particularly of financial and IT systems.
• Must have experience of managing change, implementing processes and reporting.
• A sound understanding of month end procedures.
• Will be IT proficient and literate with a full working knowledge of the most recent developments to the benefit of our organisation.
