British Sign Language (BSL) Signer - Pre-approved Register – Fixed Term until June 2018

Variable hours as and when required

You will provide signing and note taking support to students who require additional support within the learning and teaching environment, in order to enable the development of learning skills that will nurture independence and facilitate access to Further Education. In addition, you will contribute to needs assessments, Personal Learning Support Plans, and identification of support required for your students. This will involve regular reports on student progress and involvement in staff team discussions to ensure high quality of support for your students

You will be educated to a minimum of BSL Level 3 or equivalent, and will have experience of supporting children and/or adults with a hearing impairment within a learning support service. Demonstrable knowledge of current models of support for learning is also essential, as is the ability to empathise and engage effectively with your students while managing challenging behaviour.
