My Client is currently seeking a Qualified and well experienced Building Services Engineer. You must already be a Member of the CIBSE or another appropriate professional body.

Under the general supervision of the Team Leader you will be working with the Senior Building Surveyor and/or the Team Leader.

BRIEF

  • To direct and manage works from inception to completion, ensuring the Client's objectives are fully understood and effectively achieved within the required timescale, budgetary constraints, and to the satisfaction of the client and end user, taking into account the need to minimise energy consumption and maintenance problems and that environmental and access issues are fully addressed.
  • Issue orders for engineering maintenance works, direct, monitor and approve on a day to day basis, the work of contractors, and administer ongoing routine maintenance contracts, analysing and approving the works undertaken, controlling budgets and ensuring good communications with other parties.
  • Provide conceptual and detailed design and specification services as part of a project team, or on small projects individually, ensuring good communication between team members.
  • Administer building, engineering and maintenance contracts using various standard forms of contract.
  • Provide estimates, valuations and final accounts for engineering works. To control costs of engineering works to keep within available budgets.
  • Inspect and assess the condition of premises (including void properties) identifying defects, hazardous materials, physical health and safety hazards and other deficiencies and the production of clear and costed reports, leading to prioritised programmes of work.
  • Carry out periodic structured visits to all properties, meet with the client / user, prepare and distribute reports and feed into the asset management process.
  • Identify repairing obligations and liabilities of the Council and Tenants on complex lease agreements including the preparation of Schedules of Condition and Dilapidations, enter into negotiations with the tenants surveyors and monitoring agreed works or agree upon a monetary settlement as compensation ensuring the best interests of the Council are achieved.
  • Provide feasibility studies, including cost and risk management information.
  • To ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements. Ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, including providing the duties of Designer and Planning Supervisor.
  • To support the Senior Building Surveyor and/or the Team Leader in the effective management of the Group and the provision of an efficient service.

PERSON SPEC:

High level of post qualification experience and considerable relevant practice experience in the design, installation and management of both Electrical and / Mechanical building services

Three years post qualification experience

Experience of report writing and presentation

Knowledge of project management processes; Project development and implementation

Demonstrate competency on spreadsheet & word processing packages and a high degree of computer literacy

Can produce reports from finance systems and/or in spreadsheets; Experience of managing budgets

Able to work with computers and industry standard software (eg Autocad, services design software, etc)
