With around 100 staff in four locations, we provide housing support and advice to around 2500 young people per year. We're one of the brightest youth organisations in the South West, leaders in our field, no other organisation in the area has the same wealth of experience.

Terms, conditions and benefits:
- Pay: £24,964 to £27,668 (NJC 28-31) per year starting at the bottom of the scale.
- Contract type: Permanent.
- This is a full time post, 37.5 hours per week.
- 30 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

- There is a requirement to work flexibly as required, which will include occasional evening and weekend work and participation in the managers' on call rota.

The job is based at our Head Office on Old Market, Bristol.
You'll be working in the Bristol Dispersed Housing Team and line managed by the Housing Manager.
This is a new role within our Bristol Dispersed Housing team created to support and lead high quality service delivery. Working alongside our existing Deputy Manager, you will manage, supervise and provide support to 4 Supported Housing Officers and hold a small caseload.
Supported by and reporting to the Housing Manager you will jointly lead operational delivery of our Bristol dispersed housing, consisting of 150 bed spaces and related services. You will help to provide a comprehensive support and housing management service to enable young people to:
- Achieve their goals and aspirations.
- Develop their independent living skills.
- Access and sustain Employment, Education and Training.
- Move on to appropriate independent living be this with their kinship networks, the PRS or social housing.
You will successfully maximise income through rent and service charge collection and ensure efficient void management to achieve high levels of occupancy.
You will hold a small caseload providing housing management and support to young people within our shared and self-contained accommodation, helping the young people to succeed and move on positively.
Your work, including monitoring and reporting, will be supported by access to all our internal resources and external partnerships, to help young people to thrive and understand their rights and responsibilities. Your approach will reflect psychologically informed approaches (PIE) that promote positive outcomes for young people.
The housing team is made up of 7 Supported Housing Officers (who hold a caseload of approx. 19 young people), 2 Resident Adults, Allocations Workers, our Maintenance team and the Future Builders Workers.
A typical day will include:
- Line management of Supported Housing Officers, ensuring delivery of quality housing management and support ensuring the effective and timely allocation of support and maintaining a responsive service for young people with diverse and complex needs.
- Reviewing, monitoring and reporting on the health and safety status of properties and young people.
- Ensuring contract targets are being met.
- Supporting partnership work with internal and external services.
- Deputising for the Housing Manager as required.
About you
You have empathy and understanding of the needs of homeless young people, young people leaving care, and the barriers they face. You like being around and working with young people.
You are experienced in line management including delivering supervision and monitoring performance.
You are good at engaging young people.
You are committed to the principles of PIE and the use of reflective practice in your work.
You have good analytical skills.
You have housing law knowledge.
You will be working within a busy and at times emotive environment, so a good sense of humour and ability to take things in your stride is essential.
