Software Engineer for Spacecraft Mission Control Systems
Salary range: Competitive

With our decision to productise our ground segment solution, called PLENITER, has anticipated this trend correctly and now the time to market is pivotal. Further to this, the company continues its success in winning new work from our institutional customers, such as the European Space Agency, where an example is the mission control system for the EUCLID mission.
As part of its growth strategy the Space Division is looking to recruit a software engineer for spacecraft mission control systems to be based at our Bristol office in the UK.

About The Role
As a team member of the Ground Systems Division you will contribute to the development, maintenance and validation of mission control systems used in the space domain and includes infrastructure development. You should be able to work to deadlines, have good inter-personal skills and be flexible as regards moving from project to project and in assimilating new technologies.
Your tasks include:
* Understanding of the requirements and the design of ground segment systems for given space missions
* Development of the detailed design using UML
* Implementation of the software and performance of unit testing
* Support integration and system testing
* Write and maintain software documentation
* Provide on-site support at the satellite operations control centre
Essential Skills :
* A degree in computer science, physics, mathematics or equivalent.
* Strong experience in software development and software engineering.
* C++ and Java programming languages
* Source Code Control System (SVN or Git)
* Development on Linux systems
* Basic Linux system administration, shell scripts, make, gcc, debugging
* Eclipse IDE
* Production of technical documentation
* Fluency in spoken and written English
* Willingness to travel to customer sites
* A valid work permit for the UK and the willingness to obtain security clearance
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with monitoring and control systems
* Preferably experience on development of M&C systems based on SCOS 2000.
* ECSS standards for space software development
* Model-Driven Software Engineering (UML, Design Patterns)
* Eclipse RAP / RCP
* Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, Gerrit
* XML
