Due to the expansion of our flagship Apprenticeship department an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Work Based Assessor delivering Light and Heavy Vehicle apprenticeships to join our highly enthusiastic team. The post would suit you if you have extensive experience of working within both light and heavy vehicle service and repair workshops and have a knowledge of current light and heavy vehicle technologies.

You will be responsible for assessing and managing the progress of each apprentice ensuring a high quality service and timely completion of their full framework.

You will manage the apprentices from initial assessment / interview through to timely completion, conduct regular progress reviews with employers and apprentices and liaise with the Construction curriculum department and functional skills tutors to maintain high success rates. You will also have targets for growing of the apprenticeship provision within your own area.

You will be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in light and/or heavy vehicle maintenance and/or repair or equivalent. Having achieved a level 3 Advanced Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship would be an advantage. You should ideally hold an assessors award, however, we can provide in-house training for a candidate with substantial industry experience.

You must have excellent communication skills and be willing to engage with employers, provide guidance and support to the learner to enable them to achieve their work-based (VCQ) qualification.

We would hope to see you demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to learning, always putting the learner first and ensuring their success. Most importantly, you must be able to engage and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

It is essential that you are able to travel effectively and independently on a daily basis around the geographical area as you will be visiting employers and apprentices in their working environments. If necessary, adjustments can be considered, in accordance with the Equality Act.
