Position Description:
The Technical Service Apprentice reports to the Technical Service Manager supporting Houghton by carrying out laboratory test work as agreed with supervisor and provide cover for other members of the Technical group.

What You Will Do:

• You will be involved in sample preparation, laboratory analysis and sample data handling.
• Responsible for helping to meet our SLAs for our major customers.
• Ensuring high & consistent standards of work to meet the objectives of the group.
• Lab bench based
• Ensure that the priorities set by Supervisor are met and that where this is not feasible, the supervisor is informed.
• Ensure each job is carried out as agreed in a speedy and accurate manner.
• Raising issues with supervisor regarding problems with test methods, test results, reporting etc.
• Flexibility in helping to achieve the goals of the group and department

Key Experience:

• Min 2 A levels - including a science subject (preferably Chemistry), & Mathematics.
• Good knowledge of test methods and health & safety procedures.
• Able to multitask.
• Good Microsoft package skills are essential
• Previous laboratory experience is an advantage.
