Job Title: Plant Operator

Job Location: North East Nottinghamshire, UK

Salary: GBP8.50 per hour

Job Purpose:

JG Pears, are a long established, highly successful, family owned and run business, with their animal rendering operation near Newark, Nottinghamshire, of key strategic importance to the UK, meat and poultry market. To enhance the competitive operation of the existing animal rendering plant, JG Pears are commissioning a new, Renewable Energy, CHP facility which will provide process steam and electricity, with an electrical export connection. The CHP will utilise Meat and Bonemeal (MBM) as primary fuel.

JG Pears are therefore looking to appoint an Operator who will be employed during the construction phase of the project to ensure plant and process knowledge is established and to assist the EPC contractor with the Hot Commissioning of the plant. You will report directly to the Plant Manager or the delegated Senior Operator on shift.

Job Duties:

Coordinate with the shared weigh-bridge facility to receive the delivery of Meat and Bonemeal (MBM) fuel to the fuel storage building and ash dispatch
Record every delivery / dispatch & relevant details via a computerised system (manually should the requirement arise).
Take fuel samples of each delivery, via automatic or manual means and prepare/provide each sample to the designated CHP Facility Operative.
Basic monitoring and operating of equipment as required, to maintain safe, efficient and continuous fuel storage building, operations.
Operate mobile plant equipment (such as a Front Loader) for fuel / ash logistics and bulk deliveries as required.
Undertake regular plant walk-downs, visual inspections and mobile plant daily routines and comply with standard operating procedures at all times.
Maintaining a clean, safe and orderly plant condition to the prescribed standard.
To understand and comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Legislation.
To work a regular day-shift pattern (Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, Saturday 7am to 1pm) and support out-of-hours works as required.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

Suitable knowledge and experience gained in industrial material logistics operations. (Biomass CHP plant operations would be an advantage).
Mobile plant operations experience (recognised qualifications / licenses are advantageous).
A flexible working attitude and a strong team working approach are essential.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
IT skills to be able to undertake reporting via a computerised system and perform basic plant control operations.
Understanding of power plant operations (advantageous).
A Health and Safety qualification, such as CCNSG [National Safety Passport] would be an advantage.
