Chief Executive

The Chartered Association of Building Engineers established in 1925, with its HQ in Northampton, UK, has grown over recent years and achieved a Royal Charter and is recognised as a leading international professional organisation for those involved in the design, construction, evaluation and maintenance of buildings.

Our Chief Executive Dr John Hooper will be retiring in 2018 after seven successful years of development and we are seeking a capable successor.

As a visionary, innovative and values-led organisation, we need a leader to finalise the next five years business strategy, working tirelessly to support members around the world.

Reporting to the Management Group, a committee of the board of Directors, the Chief Executive will be responsible for providing inspirational leadership, team building and strategic management. Our new leader will continue to guide the Association into an exciting new strategic era of expanded reach and impact and be responsible for developing relationships with key stakeholders and partners including Universities, Professional bodies and Companies.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will bring strategic vision, significant leadership experience, excellent communication skills and financial competence and act as an ambassador in representing the Association.

Demonstrable track record of leadership gained at CEO, COO or other senior operational level with knowledge of the Built Environment.

Proven experience of implementing an international business plan

Operations success at executive level and able to demonstrate tangible quality outcomes

Commercial acumen and proven track record of growth

Experience of building, maintaining and optimising a network of productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Senior Management, Board of Directors)

Minimum qualification of Honours Degree in a relevant subject.
