If this is you, Reed Education have a brand new opportunity in the Brent area for an experienced candidate to join a supportive SEN Childreab and Young People's department as a EHCP Coordinator in September!This is a diverse role, requiring a high level of written and verbal communication, relationship building skills along with proficiency in database management and Microsoft word.



An EHCP Coordinator's Purpose:

Responsible for a defined caseload and act as the named officer in line with the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice, statutory responsibilities and the authority's local policies and strategies.

Responsible for the management of a designated SEN caseload, ensuring service standards, performance outcomes and statutory requirements are met. This includes a range of duties as follows:

• Being a point of contact and advice for young people, parents, schools, professionals and others and keeping them informed about individual cases and general SEN issues

• Drafting EHC Plans

• Conversion of statements of SEN/LDA's to Education, Health and Care plans

• Applying eligibility criteria for resource allocation

• Liaising with schools and settings regarding arrangements for individual children and young people

To understand the SEND Code of Practice and work within the legislative framework.

An EHCP Coordinator will ensure all communications and contacts with young people, parents, schools, settings and other agencies about SEN casework and general SEN issues are proactive, supportive, timely and constructive so that confidence in the service is maintained and improved.

Main Duties:

To develop and maintain professional, supportive working relationships with key staff in schools and other services in the locality. This will include:

• Act as a named officer for parents, young people, schools, special schools, and colleges

• Working with others to ensure integrated working practice.

To ensure all written correspondence and documents are accurate and well structured, reflecting local and national requirements, including SEN legislation, and is sensitive to the perspective of the recipient.

To ensure electronic case files are well maintained to agreed quality standards and confidentiality in line with Data Protection Act.

To accurately record, input and maintain records on a database as required.

To attend a range of meetings with young people, parents, school staff and other officers and professionals as required, including annual reviews in line with agreed priorities.

To support the SEN Team Manager and Case Officers in the preparation of information for management reports, tribunal case statements, and general correspondence as requested.

To prioritise and manage workloads to ensure all transfer reviews are managed within agreed timescales.

To understand the SEND Code of Practice and work within the legislative framework.

Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post.

The Ideal Candidate:

• A good working knowledge of legislation in respect of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and knowledge of the educational system

• Educated to A level standard or equivalent, as a minimum, with GCSEs at
Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or relevant training.

• An understanding of law and procedures relating to the SEN Code of Practice, the Disability Discrimination Act and the changes associated with the Children and Families Act 2014

• Awareness of principles of data protection and confidentiality.

• Some experience of working within an SEN setting in schools or a Local Authority.

• An understanding of and empathy with the issues facing children/young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families.

• Experience of working in an office environment, working with databases, Microsoft office.
