Industrial technology company based in Buckingham is looking for a school leaver or similar to join an enthusiastic and professional team as their new Accounts Apprentice. This accounts role is in support of the company Accountant with mentoring and on the job training provided - they value their apprentices and can provide plenty of support and practical experience to stand them in good stead for their studies and future career choices.

The package includes paid time off for study and exams

Candidate requirement:
- Numerate
- Proactive and independent, able to make decisions within their capabilities
- Interested in how a small business operates and what is involved in keeping accounting records and monthly reporting.
- Accurate, organized and consistent in their work.
- Reliable and a good time-keeper
- PC literate and familiar with at least the basics of MS Office suite of programs. Training will be given on Sage 50

Main duties include:

Supplier Accounts - checking and entering supplier invoices and reconciling statements. Helping the accounts manager to chase customer payments. Entering new customer and supplier accounts onto Sage. Maintaining customer credit records. Ordering stationery. Accounts office filing. Communicating with customers, suppliers and others by email and telephone. Assisting the accounts manager with preparing the monthly reporting pack.

The role will start off with more basic tasks but will develop as the apprentice becomes more familiar with the accounts function and to reflect progress in their studies towards the AAT qualification. For example checking the HMRC import VAT certificate each month, reconciling bank accounts and becoming more involved in the monthly management accounts preparation.

Salary - in line with government guidelines for apprentices, depending on the experience and previous training of the candidate. Paid time off for study and exams.
Training provided - Apprentice to study for the appropriate level of AAT qualification, on a day release basis with an external college or study centre.
