You will have the support and guidance from a number of experienced SEN teachers, as well as an amazing Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and two in-house Speech and Language Therapists.

The purpose of this role would be to support a number of SEN pupils to access the curriculum and overcome specific barriers to learning they currently face. This role is ideal for a Psychology graduate who has experience working with young people, either in a school-setting or as part of volunteering activities. Alternatively, if you are a recent graduate with experience working with people who have Special Educational Needs the school would still like to hear from you. The most important thing is that you are a graduate with a passion to support pupils who have special educational needs.

It is also vital that you have good literacy and numeracy skills, having obtained an A-B in your GCSE grades and A-B in your A Levels too will be advantageous to your application. The ability to show tact and sensitivity is important in this role as you must be able to emphasise with the pupils, some of which, are on the Autistic Spectrum. It is important in this role to know when to engage with the pupils and when to give the pupils space. At times, the pupils may show challenging behaviour, this will require you to be a resilient individual who can bounce back after facing a challenge. The pupils can sometimes be disengaged and show signs of disruptive behaviour so the ideal candidate must be confident, engaging and resilient. If you think you could excel in this role and give 100% to the pupils - then this role could be for you!
