The Hinkley Point C Project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. During the business construction phase over 5,600 people will work on the site. The project marks the rebirth of the UK's nuclear industry and will present invaluable opportunities for Somerset, the South West and wider UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the largest and most significant construction and infrastructure projects in Europe.
The HPC Enabling Works Programme will deliver the proprietary works required to prepare the site for the commencement of the main civil work contracts. The Enabling Works Programme includes the site wide earthworks, roads and networks (utilities), sea wall, aggregate jetty, remediation and construction offices. The design packages associated with these work activities are managed by engineering teams within NNB Site Engineering function supporting the Enabling Works Multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
The earthworks project shall be delivered through a design & build contract procured through an NEC form of Contract. NNB Site Engineering has a dedicated team to facilitate the delivery of the associated design packages.

Principal Accountabilities
*Report directly to the NNB SE Enabling Team Manager
*Support the HPC Enabling Works Project Engineering Leads during the design and construction phases
*Provide technical support on the surveillance of Enabling Works design packages
*Liaise and co-ordinate with the wider HPC Project team (including the Responsible Designer entities in France)
*Support the Project Engineering Lead in delivering technical references, input data, level 1 & 2 design schedules and reporting
*Assist with the management, surveillance, coordination and the review of the detailed design, in order to deliver to programme the design packages for construction
*Challenge designers in terms of proposed solutions (i.e. reduction of design/construction cost, technical requirements, sustainability, suitability of detailed designs, quality of detailed designs, etc)
*Assist with the coordination / organisation of CDM Review meetings and liaison with the NNB Principal Designer and CDM-A with respect to design development
*Assist with the management of relevant interfaces (technical & functional) within the Enabling Works programme (and other interfacing projects) applicable to Enabling Works design packages
*Manage design change and provide responses to Requests for Information (RFI), Field Change Requests (FCR) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR)
*Comply with NNB QA policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver design and management of infrastructure projects
* Experienced in British and European Standards for civil works
*Enhanced organisational skills
*Typically degree qualified or equivalent in a related discipline
*Membership of a Professional Institute
*Working knowledge of the CDM Regulations
*General professional qualities to include accuracy, tenacity, result-oriented and teamwork-oriented attitude, diplomacy
*Excellent communication/interpersonal skills notably with various levels of the organisation and externally
*Discretion - Confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
*The individual is to be vetted to at least a basic level (BPSS)
*Compliance with health, safety, environment and other statutory requirements relevant to this role
*Ability to work independently and be proactive
*To be responsible for the management, organisation and filing of electronic and physical documents and records as appropriate
*Maintain data/records so that information is readily available and easily accessible

Rate GBP250 per day PAYE (+ 33 days paid leave). Closing date 02/09/17
