The Role:
Based at our Livingston Depot, the post holder is responsible for the allocation of work to drivers based in Scotland, planning and liaising with them regarding the loads they are given. Working as part of the Transport Team you will be trafficking a pool of drivers, to achieve the required service level in relation to the on time delivery of customer vehicles in the most cost effective manner.
Vehicle Allocator / Driver Allocator Key Responsibilities:
+ Co-ordinating the most efficient use of drivers and available work within the wider team in order to achieve maximum driver utilisation.
+ Maximising driver available hours whilst staying, at all times, within driver’s hours legislation.
+ Monitoring and managing driver performance against expectations and challenge inefficiencies and poor practices.
+ Observing driver adherence to best practice through the use of internal vehicle tracking systems.
+ Highlighting any productivity concerns to the Scottish Regional Manager.
+ Updating the Helpdesk team on any likely failed or late deliveries/collections.
+ Co-ordinating with the handling agent at collection delivery points to resolve any issues to minimise driver delays.
+ Ensure daily communication with drivers takes place to confirm workload expectations and achievement timescales.
+ Planning, building and allocating all drivers workloads and ensuring scheduled maintenance is met in line with company requirements.
+ Routing the drivers in a way that minimises empty mileage.
+ Working across the relevant auction, brokerage and new car systems and work teams.
+ Administration and POD collation as required.
Person Specification:
+ Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade A – C or equivalent, including English and Maths is essential.
+ Proficient user of Excel, Word, and experience in the use of a Traffic Planning System.
+ Strong communication skills and the ability to problem solve
+ Previous experience in an Allocation, Driver Liaison or Traffic Planning Role.
+ Good knowledge of U.K geography.
+ A good understanding of EU working time legislation and drivers hours requirements.
+ Preferably hold an International management CPC
+ Good customer relation skills
+ A flexible approach to duties undertaken and hours required to complete the role day to day.
