Salary: £43,617 per annum

As we develop our college we are seeking a highly organised, innovative and ambitious Head of Service Industries who can really drive forward our focus on improving student experience in the Service Industries.

The role requires a proven further education expert who can demonstrate outstanding leadership and management. You will have responsibility across all types of provision and will be accountable for the commercial outlets in the department, primarily Avenue 141 and Salon 141 to ensure both benefit to students and commercial viability.

The Head of Hair, Beauty, Travel & Tourism will manage the delivery of the Hair, Beauty, Hospitality & Travel curriculum. This newly created role offers the right candidate the opportunity to work with a high achieving team to shape and grow the department.

The Study Programmes taught within the department are designed to be highly innovative. The role will have a small teaching commitment, therefore, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the commitment to design and deliver an outstanding learning experience for our students.

Head of Hair, Beauty, Travel & Tourism duties

  • Manage, develop and review the curriculum within the department
  • Support the resource management of the department efficiently and effectively
  • Undertake a general management role within and on behalf of the Department
  • Undertake a teaching programme and the associated lecturer's duties and responsibilities
  • Monitor & manage the course leadership role for designated course (s) in conjunction with the appropriate course leader
  • Develop and maintain professional competence in the post and in other duties performed on behalf of the Department or the College.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required

Previous teaching experience

  • Sound IT skills and a keenness to ensure the integration of ILT throughout the curriculum.
  • Excellent knowledge of recent initiatives in curriculum development & design
  • Previous experience of leading a team
  • Previous experience of conducting Observations of Teaching, Learning & Assessment
  • Relevant vocational/business experience to develop commercial activities across the department.
