And as the fifth largest employer in Bath and North East Somerset, we’re really bringing our local talent out on a global scale. And with ever growing student numbers, it’s important for an expansion in our infrastructure and cherished buildings and landscapes. Transforming the lives of our socially engaged global students starts with making sure that our people are engaged, empowered and feel valued for the hard work they do. And that’s where you come in.
Based within the Careers & Employability Department, the Placements Co-ordinator works as part of a dynamic, friendly, multi-skilled team which delivers services such as a university-wide placements programme, mentoring schemes, student Jobshop, enterprise and employer liaison, and careers information and guidance.
About the role
An opportunity has become available within the Careers & Enterprise team to support the growing placements service at Bath Spa University. The role of Placements Co-ordinator is a new position, with responsibility for supporting the widespread introduction of sandwich year placements at the University.
The role holder will plan and conduct visits and contact points for sandwich year students, as well as those taking part in the University’s funded placement schemes. The post holder will also be responsible for the administrative processes relating to sandwich years, and will ensure that students are fully prepared before they go on placement.
Additionally, the role involves employer liaison with host companies, with the aim of engaging them in wider opportunities within the University, and growing the numbers of students taking sandwich year placements.
About you (requirements)
A self-starter, you will have excellent organisational skills to plan the support required for students going on sandwich year placements and to conduct their visits. Able to cope with sustained periods of pressure, you will be motivated and have a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude.
You will be confident in speaking with employers, students and colleagues, in person, over the telephone and by email. You will be highly proficient in a wide range of customer service activities and have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels. Good communication skills and a hard-working approach are essential.
You will need to have access to a car, and hold a full clean driving licence and business level car insurance.
