About the Team

As part of a 40 strong business development department the Clients and Markets team is well integrated and highly regarded within the business because our work is at the heart of the firms' vision: famous for our client experience, outstanding people and creative energy. A leading sector-focused international law firm. Outstanding client service delivery, sector-focus, client focused growth and other major firm wide initiatives are run from the Clients and Markets team and are central to the firms' ambitious growth plans. As a result there are many opportunities within this role to work closely with our partners and other internal clients, as well as external clients. Main Purpose of the Job

To directly support Business Development Managers (BDMs) and take responsibility for tasks contributing to the delivery of the firms' client strategy and sector focus. The role will be based in Birmingham and travel to London will be expected from time to time.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting BDMs with the creation of client plans, which includes liaising with other parts of the business (such as finance and information & library services)
Researching markets and target clients
Management of CRM database
BD budget management/tracking
Events support from time to time
Attending and contributing to sector meetings
Supporting the wider business development team as appropriate (including corporate communications and BIDS)
Any other reasonable duties delegated by any Partner, Senior Manager or Group Support Manager of the firm

Key skills and experience

Excellent organisational and project management skills with outstanding grammar and communication
Self-motivated, positive team player with initiative, able to build rapport at all levels and work within tight deadlines, with a flexible approach
Excellent IT skills, with extensive experience of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience or qualification in marketing or equivalent would be advantageous but not essential
