Our client is seeking an enthusiastic part time Travel Trainer to join their well established business.

Learning to travel independently is one of life’s essential skills and for many young people with a disability, learning to use public transport independently improves their confidence and the choices they can make. It enables them to connect with their local community, education and leisure facilities and be with friends.

As a part time Travel Trainer, you will work 1:1 with young people aged between 11-25 with additional needs, helping them to develop the skills needed to travel independently to and from school/college.

Travel Trainer Role:
As Travel Trainer, your role will involve an array of tasks, including;
• To deliver travel training plans to young people on journeys to/from school/college in real-time (morning and afternoon journeys) to enable them to develop road safety and personal safety skills
• Keep accurate records, both written and using a computer
• Attend and participate in team meetings/1:1’s
• Liaise with travel training co-ordinator/school/parents and carers regularly to monitor and evaluate progress of young people both verbally and in writing

What you need:
• Experience of working with vulnerable adults/young people/children and disadvantaged people in a person-centred way using person centred tools
• Confident in making decisions for an individual including using daily assessments to make decisions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills when working with vulnerable people, parents, professionals, colleagues
• To work flexibly and manage own time
• Experience of motivating people
• Able to collect data and produce reports

Availability to work 20 hours a week over 5 days Monday-Friday at the times young people travel to/from school (approximately 7:30 – 9:30 am and 2:30 – 4:30 pm) during term-time and 14 hours a week over 5 days Monday-Friday during school holidays.
