Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Location: Holborn, London

The company is a leading virtualisation and cloud solution specialist and form part of top 1000 companies to inspire Britain 2017, as announced by the London Stock Exchange Group, based in Holborn, London. They are a Tier 1 provider operating their own multi-location IP network and managed cloud infrastructure.

The position is a hands on, technical role in which the candidate will be required to maintain, manage and evolve the core network and manage the existing networking team resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance the core network infrastructure including the inter-datacentre circuits, Internet breakouts, firewall and border gateway router design and implementation.
  • Complying with ISO27001 policies and procedures.
  • Management and development of the existing Network Team, act as an escalation point for any high level network issues.
  • Review and respond to network relating change requests addressing any information security implications.
  • Implementation of secure WIFI configuration.
  • Implementation, configuration and maintenance of a secure network service.
  • Ensuring preventative maintenance is regularly scheduled and communicated to the business making sure that any impact is kept to a minimum.
  • Implementation and management of the company's network disaster recovery and business continuity configurations, making sure that there is no single point of failure, by providing resilient and dynamic failover solutions where possible.
  • Defining and managing ongoing network operational requirements, analysis, selection, design, development, implementation, network operations testing.
  • Management of tickets assigned within ConnectWise ensuring that the time and ticket status records are up to date at all times.
  • Ensuring all configurations of network equipment are backed up.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and testing of network disaster recovery procedures.
  • Liaise with infrastructure suppliers to coordinate new implementations and maintenance of existing WAN infrastructure.
  • Participate in the planning and implementing of datacentre moves and changes.
  • Adhere to the ITIL framework in relation to all aspects of change and configuration management.
  • Support and enhance the existing perimeter infrastructure.
  • Deployment and maintenance of network monitoring, analysis and reporting tools.
  • Ownership of networking incidents, escalate to external vendors as required.
  • Creation and maintenance of systems documentation and network topology diagrams.
  • Attend client meetings where requested by the project manager or otherwise.
  • Any offer of employment may be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

Key Requirements:

  • At a minimum must possess a current CCNP qualification and a CCIE written certification.
  • Minimum 5 years' recent experience working on a multi-site, multi-homed ISP grade network.
  • Leadership skills are essential.
  • Enterprise level design experience, incorporating scalable, hierarchical models for LANs, WANs, server farms and DMZs.
  • Excellent hands-on working knowledge of Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Deep knowledge of TCP/IP networking including VLANs, layer 2/3 switching, routing and WAN optimization.
  • Thorough firewall experience including IPsec VPN configuration/troubleshooting and associated ACLs.
  • Strong knowledge of routing - static routing, HSRP, GLBP, EIGRp, OSPF, iBGP & eBGP, policy based routing.
  • Deep knowledge of firewalls and security best practice.
  • Branch office deployment - point-to-point, DSL, WiMAX, Redundancy/HSRP.
  • Enterprise level design experience, incorporating scalable, hierarchical models for LANs, WANs, server farms and DMZs.
  • Operation of network services in a DR environment.
  • Strong knowledge of DHCP, DNS, NTP, MPLS, multicast, packet sniffers & protocol analysers, leased line, DSL technologies, Wavelength Division Multiplexing technologies, load balancing, capacity planning.
  • Proven deployment and troubleshooting experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of network architecture, framework, security and features.
  • Network monitoring experience using tools such as Paessler PRTG.
  • Network infrastructure management and configuration software.

Advantageous:

  • CCNP Security.
  • CCIE certified - completed lab exam.
  • Sophos UTM experience.
  • Hands on experience of Huawei core switches.
  • Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) product experience.
  • Understanding of TACACS+.
