Senior Traffic Operator

Southampton

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Traffic Operator to join our Containers Business Unit based in one of our sites in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to join a challenging but rewarding business area and really add value with your knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Driver Management; Fuel performance, Tachograph infringements, Accident and damage control.
- Wages cost control; OT, Nights out.
- Driver discipline and conformance; uniform and vehicle inspections.
- Operations Management; Supervise the Traffic and Customer service team in the General Managers absence, Operational improvement projects
- Budget & Financial control; Review weekly trading report and identify and resolve cost issues as agreed with the depot manager.
- Customer Management; Business development - Customer ring round list as required, Key Account Management
- Daily operational control of the depot's planning teams.
- Management and development of the team.
- Site H& S and Security
- Site(s) H&S strategy and risk assessments.
- Operational process design; Documenting and training of key processes and driver training records, Security of site and incident investigation.
- Port Liaison; O'Licence management - Weekly control on the Fleet and strict observance of the agreed O'licence conditions at all Operating centres.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

- An experienced operator with significant experience is preferred. Preferably with a broad understanding of different haulage activities and general supply chain principles. This role may well suit someone with a good understanding of LGV driving
- The role holder will have or will attain an International CPC
- A proven track record in running a large Container haulage operation is essential
- A highly skilled Traffic Planner having run a large fleet of 50 Trucks or more to deliver improving profitability
- Numerate, an ability to work with data is an advantage.
- Computer Literate, will need to be comfortable using a variety of transactional systems as well as Excel and Word.
- A proven track record in managing people including handling disciplinary actions and terminations
- Ability to lead a team, setting and monitoring standards
- A proven track record in building and motivating teamsAn organised problem solver who is self-motivated and good at prioritising conflicting tasks
