Chichester College has an opportunity for a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle Engineering to join the team based at our Chichester campus on a full time, permanent basis. You will receive a competitive salary of £20,671 - £36,287 per annum.

From 1 August 2017, Central Sussex College will change its name to Crawley College. It will also merge with Chichester College as part of a group structure.

Chichester College is the largest provider of further education in West Sussex. As our Lecturer in Motor Vehicle Engineering you will be working in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) team, you will use proven communication skills to teach students, from a 14 years of age onwards, on our Automotive/Engineering and Motorcycle courses.  A key part of the role will be to develop and support students’ Maths, English, ICT, Employability and Enterprise skills as well as developing our Commercial provision.

Key Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Motor Vehicle Engineering

- To undertake teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring, as agreed.

- To ensure that appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner.

- To undertake administration and provide reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters.

- To take an active role in the achievement of high individual student retention and success rates, meeting or surpassing the relevant targets for each.

- To develop curricula and learning activities, taking into consideration literacy and numeracy development, and equality and diversity.

- To understand personal responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding.

- Keep up-to-date with current issues, changes, and policies relating to the educational sector.

- To participate in marketing activities and promote the College for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.

- To undertake the delivery of literacy and numeracy.

Skills & Experience required of Lecturer in Motor Vehicle Engineering

- You will be qualified to Level 3 in the motor industry and have relevant industrial experience.

- Level 2 literacy and numeracy

- Working knowledge of health and safety

- Up to date knowledge of Industrial practice

- Microsoft Office applications

- An understanding of safeguarding vulnerable groups
