At Fitzwilliam College, we’re proud of our catering team - from feasts to fry-ups they produce meals to match the full range of occasions that bring our community together.  We have some exciting opportunities to join our busy, friendly team in providing a first-class service to our wide range of customers.

Role 1: Kitchen Porter
Full-time 37.5 hours per week, £16,302 per annum

We are seeking a reliable, flexible individual to join our Catering team as full-time Kitchen Porter to cover the Front of House and associated catering areas.  The post holder is required to keep the area, its equipment, crockery, cutlery, glassware and utensils in a clean and hygienic state.  Other responsibilities include assisting with deliveries, collating and recording laundry and complying with all relevant legislation including Food Hygiene and Health and Safety.

Role 2: Catering Assistant
Full-time 37.5 hours per week, £16,302 per annum

We are seeking an outgoing, flexible individual to join our friendly, enthusiastic Front of House team.  The role will include serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for students, staff, Fellows and conference guests, as well as all preparation and cleaning duties, both in the main dining hall and other areas of the College, including the Coffee Shop from time to time. 

For both full-time positions, the hours of work are 37.5 per week, working five days out of seven, including evenings and every other weekend, and therefore full flexibility is required. 

Role 3: Coffee Shop Assistant
Full-time 37.5 hours per week Term-time only, £16,302 per annum FTE (£9,405 per annum, actual)

The Coffee Shop is a vibrant central hub of the College, serving great snacks and drinks through the day.  Our small enthusiastic Coffee Shop team is looking for an outgoing, flexible individual give a high level of customer service to staff, Fellows and conference guests, as well as undertaking all preparation and cleaning duties as expected in a Coffee Shop. 

This position is offered for 30 weeks of the year, working through the three University ten-week terms (Exact term dates vary from year to year and are available on the University website).  The hours of work are 37.5 per week, working five days out of seven, including early (from 7am) and late shifts (until 6pm) and every other weekend, and therefore some flexibility is required. 

Conditions of employment 
Additional benefits include 33 days’ annual leave (including public holidays), a discretionary bonus scheme, enrolment into a contributory Group Personal Pension Scheme, free meals on duty and car parking subject to availability.  Benefits are pro-rated for the Coffee Shop position.
