We are seeking a Technical Specialist for a company recognized as an International Development Consultancy. Working alongside the Technical Lead this role will provide support to the UK Aid Direct team to ensure grant performance and risk are proactively managed, evaluated and improved. The post is based in Bath, however occasional UK and international travel may be required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and quality assurance of the annual review and project reports.
- Working with Performance and Risk Managers developing technical guidance to grant holders to support learning, monitoring and evaluation of progress.
- Providing solutions to technical issues and identifying technical assistance and strategic advisory input.
- Monitoring and evaluating strategy of the fund.
- Contributing to technical partners inputs on logframe and ongoing project reviews.
- Working with the Technical Specialist to develop learning products
- Identifying common learning and promoting use of best practice to grant holders.
- Supporting the pre-contracting technical development of new proposals.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Qualified to Masters in International Development, Policy & Planning, M & E or related degree.
- Public health or human rights specialism.
- Minimum of 3 years grant management experience including providing technical support to grant holders.
- Good understanding of UK overseas development strategies.
- Experience of working directly with sub-Saharan Africa or South Asia.
- Conversant with monitoring and evaluation reporting techniques.
- Ability to operate in and liaise with diverse teams.
- Confident in building relations and collaborating with technical partners.
- Competent in handling a varied workload and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Proactive and possessing a problem solving attitude.
Desirable:
- Previous experience of living and working in developing countries.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of DFID and other international organisations' policies.
- Working languages in addition to English
