Location: Taunton
Hours: Full time, 09.00-17.00 (30 minutes for lunch), 37 hrs pw. Flexible approach to working hours as fundraising events are often in the evening/weekend
Salary: GBP12.38 per hour
Type: Temporary to start 7/8 for up to 6 weeks while they recruit on a permanent basis

Job Details

Job Purpose

  • To initiate, develop and run community events, appeals and campaigns, contributing to departmental strategy
  • To provide appropriate support to unsolicited events organised and run by members of the public
  • To support and develop local fundraising committees.
  • To ensure the continued high profile of the charity by liaising with Communications Team and identifying awareness-raising opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement new community fundraising events and activities, targeting general public, schools, colleges, community groups and organisations.
  • Develop existing portfolio of community events and appeals to maximise income and PR related opportunities.
  • Contact key individuals/ personalities within the community and work to establish /develop relationships to benefit the charity.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of fundraising event some of which take place outside of normal office hours.
  • Accept donations and represent the hospice at cheque presentations.
  • Actively seek opportunities to give presentations about the work of the charity to solicit support.
  • Liaise with the Communications team to maximise event and appeal related publicity.
  • Work with fundraising groups to develop activities.
  • Organise and manage volunteers at community events.
  • Plan and implement a strategy to raise funds from community groups.
  • Record all contacts made on fundraising database.
  • Generate and nurture new volunteer groups.
