Chef/ Assistant Catering Manager
The King’s Academy is an 11-18 school which serves the communities of Hemlington and Coulby Newham in Middlesbrough. We aim to provide a first rate education to our students, informed by our Christian ethos, which helps to develop their character as well as academic excellence in a culture of high expectations and accountability and which is only possible through our high quality and committed staff team.
The busy academy kitchen is at the heart of daily school life and every day produces over 1,000 healthy, nutritious meals for students, staff and visitors across two sittings, also catering for special events within the academy year.
We are now looking to recruit a skilled Chef/ Assistant Catering Manager who will have responsibility for cooking the main meals of the day, supported by a team of catering assistants, and will also assist the Catering Manager in management of the kitchen.
You must be: able to deliver a quality chef service in a high volume, pressured, professional school kitchen environment with fixed service times; committed to delivering first class customer service; an excellent team player and; able to effectively delegate to and supervise staff. You should always be looking for how you can improve the service you offer to customers, have an awareness of the school food regulations and must be comfortable dealing with kitchen administration.
The job is term time (plus two weeks worked flexibly as agreed with the Catering Manager), 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday and the rate of pay is £10.00 per hour. Lunch is provided.
