Reference: RQ12886
The Department of Radiology is seeking a Personal Assistant/Senior Secretary to join a small team providing essential secretarial and administrative support to the Head of Department, working closely with the Operations Manager to facilitate the smooth running of the HoD office.
The post has a wide range of responsibilities, in particular managing complex diary and travel arrangements for the Head of Department. S/he will also act as personal secretary to one other Professor and one University Reader and will be required to support the Head of Department with grants applications.
The post holder liaises closely with clinical, research, academic and administrative staff in the Department, University, NHS Trust and external collaborative individuals and organisations in the wider scientific community both in the UK and abroad. S/he will also be responsible for correspondence, process of expense claims, organising visit programmes, meetings and other events.
The post requires a high level of initiative, flexibility, discretion, tact and diplomacy due to the greater frequency of senior level interaction and exposure to confidential information. The post holder will be required to work in a planned and structured way.
He or she will be a well-organised, pro-active individual who will work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a necessity, plus a keen attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
