Senior Statistician Role:-
Senior Statistical Methodologist, Data Linkage
Fixed Term Contract x6 months with possible extensions
Location - Portsmouth
Experience and Skills required
Position Holder Responsibilities:
As a senior statistical methodologist you will work on and lead methodological data linkage research projects relating to a range of statistical activities of the organisation. These include, for example, linkage of census, survey and administrative data. You will also provide methodological advice and collaborate on specific data linkage projects. Other activities include liaison with external data linkage researchers / practitioners and provision of training in data linkage methods.
- Knowledge and experience of a range of analytical, or statistical techniques
- Experience in manipulation and analysis of data and presenting research results
- Computer literate with experience in at least one statistical package, preferably at least one of SAS, R or Stata, with an ability to pick up new languages as required.
Broader skills to include:
- Demonstrated experience of carrying out complex analytical research work
- Ability to manage pieces of research or analytical work, working with others to deliver quality outcomes to time
- Problem solving skills
- Experience of leading and managing a team of researchers, demonstrating an ability to motivate and develop staff
- Good team working skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision to deliver to time and quality
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with ideally an experience of a range of formats and audiences.
The successful candidate may be required to undertake SC clearance.
Qualifications
- A 2:2 degree in a mathematical or statistical discipline, or a related discipline is essential
- A postgraduate qualification in mathematics or statistics, or a related discipline would be desirable
