EMC Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in the delivery of electromagnetic capability for advanced submarine platforms? We currently have a vacancy for an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As an EMC Engineer, you will be working within a dedicated EMC team, evaluating the electromagnetic performance of the submarine platforms. You will be executing, delivering and managing complex engineering and cross-functional tasks or programmes of work, recognising stakeholder and customer requirements.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a hands-on engineering role, with the chance to develop a combination of skills within the engineering and science fields. You will have the chance to work on projects of national importance, as well as cutting edge technology.

Your main responsibilities as an EMC Engineer will involve:

Performing EMC testing both on-board and within a dedicated newly built electromagnetic test facility

Assessing boat electrical equipment for Electromagnetic (EM) compatibility.

Working with equipment manufacturers with the collation, assessment and review of EMC qualification evidence to address EM issues in a cost effective manner

Preparing calculations to demonstrate that the EM environment is safe

Your skills and qualifications as an EMC Engineer:

Essential:

Degree in electrical engineering, (or similar discipline) or equivalent qualification or experience

Background in an electrical discipline

Desirable:

Awareness of EMC qualification activities

You will have a keen interest in developing your knowledge in the EMC field, alongside a flexible and adaptable approach to your work. You must also possess good analytical and problem solving skills.
