-Cover Supervisor required from September
-High-performing Somerset Secondary School
-Full-time, term-time role - September start
-Fantastic experience for aspiring Secondary Teachers
-GBP60 - GBP70 per day
A well-known and successful Somerset School is looking for an ambitious and dynamic graduate to join their team as a Cover Supervisor. This full-time, term-time role will provide the successful candidate a wealth of classroom based practical experience prior to commencing teacher training.
My client is a thriving Somerset Secondary School based within a commutable distance of Taunton, Bridgwater and Weston-Super-Mare and benefitting from easy access from the M5. Currently catering for 1,300 students, this school is rated as 'Good' in all areas by Oftsed and enjoys a great reputation locally.
The Cover Supervisor is required to cover classes during the short term absence of teaching staff and to support teaching and learning across the school. If appointed, you will give instructions for the lesson as provided by a teacher and the focus of the role will be to maintain good order and to keep pupils on task and respond to general enquiries. Additional responsibilities may include exam invigilation and accompanying pupils on school trips. If you're an aspiring secondary teacher, this role will provide an excellent platform to sharpen your existing skills ahead of a PGCE, SCITT or School Direct course.
To be considered, you must have a strong academic record culminating in a 2:1 or better in your undergraduate degree. You will demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to young people, their welfare, education and personal development. You will also need to act as a role model and have high expectations of conduct and behaviour. The ability to show initiative, flexibility, reliability and a sense of humour are essential for this role.
