FINANCIAL CONTROLLER WITH DIRECTOR POTENTIAL
Long term career development opportunity with ambitious SME
Specialist batch manufacturing group of companies
Up to £70,000 per annum + Car + Broad-ranging benefits
This is an excellent career opportunity for a professionally qualified accountant with a background in manufacturing with a highly regarded, privately owned, well-established specialist manufacturing group. Based in the Leicester area, the company has a turnover of c £30m and 200 colleagues, it is profitable and has a positive direction of travel. It has an industry-leading reputation, uses advanced technology and has had significant capital investment in recent years. It works with a broad range of demanding blue-chip clients and is organised along 4 distinct P&L business units.
This is the senior finance role in the group reporting to the Chief Executive, and as a part of its development and succession planning it wishes to appoint a high quality Financial Controller who will lead an experienced finance team, provide a full finance and accounting service to operating colleagues, with detailed reporting and management accounting information being paramount, and you will be hands-on in the business. You will operate as a close business working partner to the CEO, be involved in change management, cost saving initiatives, systems development and you will interface significantly across all aspects of the business.
The intention is to appoint an individual with the clear technical and commercial capabilities that will lead to a Finance Director appointment in the short to medium term. The role requires a high calibre candidate with an impressive career to date in senior finance roles in manufacturing, ideally with experience in a batch production environment. You will need to have a good quality university degree and be professionally qualified, most likely ACMA, and be on an upward trajectory in your career. Your sector experience should ideally include a mix of larger company blue chip training and experience followed by management experience in SMEs of a similar size and scale. The ability to lead the finance function and manage the team is essential and in keeping with the company’s culture you will need to be commercially aware, understand the importance of cash control, be quality conscious and enjoy the day to day, hands-on nature of working in an SME. Above all, you must have the personal qualities, leadership skills and positive outlook that will make you a natural appointment to that of Finance Director in the short to medium term.
The company is looking to make this a long term career opportunity in a business which has a strong future roadmap. The salary indicator is supported by a car and broad ranging benefits and you will be expected to live within a reasonable commute of the Leicester area.
