In this role you will accelerate our ability to deliver major projects and to develop, co-ordinate, and implement consistent best practice across IT and Finance. You will help develop our project management team, help integrate project management techniques into the culture of the firm and will be instrumental in defining and implementing project management best practices throughout the firm through training and systems development.
This is a lead role in the support of IT Project delivery and specifically the roll-out of the Finance programme. The position involves building and maintaining project and planning models and liaising with IT development and Finance operational teams as required.
Reporting to the Finance Programme Manager, the Finance Project Manager is a key member of the IT PMO Team. There are currently no direct reports but the role will operate in a matrix environment.
The role will be based in 'Birmingham' and will require travel periodically to Cardiff, Leeds and London if required.
Key responsibilities:
Role supports key International Operations business areas and is specifically aligned to Finance.
Project planning phase
• Scoping; budgeting; setting up project phases
• Preparation of project plans and timelines for internal and external use
• Establishing project teams and governance structure, setting and reinforcing protocols, and briefing team members accordingly
• Manage team resourcing requirements considering issues such as capacity, continuity, experience required and impact on client service and finance operations
• Lead, motivate, develop, mentor and appraise project team members
• Identify and manage stakeholders and establish a communication plan. Responsibility for liaising with IT counterparts and 3rd party vendors
• Manage project and finance system support requests, related IT change and delivery plans and the formal process for acceptance and sign off with the business
• Plan for the deployment of technology, liaising with internal and external IT and business change leaders, ensuring there are appropriate levels of governance at all stages of the project
• Scoping, designing and completing related Project MI. and reporting
Execution phase
• Co-ordinate work effort across project and operational teams, produce status/RAG reporting, liaising with key stakeholders and communicating progress
• Deploying appropriate technology solutions and ensure there is appropriate levels of testing, quality assurance and user-end training
• Ensure finance system setup processes are fully documented and are kept up to date with new information or changes
• Managing ongoing project team changes and ensuring there is appropriate 'mid-flight' on-boarding
• Tracking scope changes, managing change requests and coordinating stakeholder communication
• Management of project team deliverables, team briefings and action lists
• Liaising directly with team members on progress and reporting requirements
• Assisting with the transition of any project activities to service delivery
• Benefits and financial management: on-going monitoring of project time recording, narratives, costs, run rates, other key financial and non-financial metrics and provide regular updates to the IT PMO
• Act as an agent for change, driving transformational change to improve the way business areas and Finance operates around end to end finance processes
Feedback Phase
• Organise team debriefings and feedback
• Co-ordinate with IT PMO/Finance to capture knowledge and lessons learned
• Track learning points and continually develop our techniques

Key competencies:
• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

• Working knowledge of the full suite of Microsoft products
• Experience of working in a legal service environment or similar blue chip organisation
