The Job
In this post the person appointed will be a member of a team providing 24 hour residential care to young people who are accommodated by this small Children's Home and which assesses the young people's needs using a child centred approach.
Links require to be maintained with family and the community and workers may be required to work off site and / or on a one to one basis, in accordance with the young persons' care plans.
This job requires someone who will be innovative and promote the individual needs of very vulnerable children.
The Resources
The post holder will be supervised by either a Senior Residential Child Care Worker or the Child Care Manager. Duties will include maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, including undertaking household tasks, which promotes the needs of young people in accordance with National Care Standards
Qualifications and Experience
All applicants must meet the SSSC registration requirements for the appropriate part of the register. You must therefore hold or be working towards the achievement of a relevant qualification as stipulated by the SSSC for the purposes of registration. Applicants who do not fully satisfy the SSSC registration criteria at the point of application will a) be required to outline how they intend to fully meet the registration requirements, and b) give a commitment to completing all necessary qualifications within the relevant timescales.
Special Conditions
The successful candidate will have to undertake shifts on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends and night cover and sleep ins.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.
Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain PVG Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland. The Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme legally obliges the Company to check an applicant's PVG Scheme Membership before an applicant can be employed by the Company in regulated work. This may involve the applicant applying to become a PVG Scheme member for the first time.
Staff are expected to make every effort to improve their professional knowledge and expertise and participate in any training which may be made available.
Staff are expected to participate in children's holidays, weekend camps, and other activities.
You may be called upon to undertake other duties as required by the exigencies of the service
