Role Purpose
Private Law is a highly regarded and successful division within Blake Morgan, made up of our Succession & Tax, Residential Property and Family Law teams. It generates fees of over GBP10m, comprises 120 people and operates out of London, Southampton, Portsmouth, Cardiff and Oxford offices. We are looking for a Private Client Senior Solicitor / Associate to join the Succession and Tax team in Oxford.
As a Private Client Solicitor, you will have a broad range of legal experience, including:
Obtaining grants of probate or letters of administration and administering estate, including foreign domicile and intestate estates
Obtaining grants of probate and letters of administration for charities
Investigating the values of the assets and liabilities in the estate
Preparing deeds of variation and deeds of family arrangement
Estate planning (including lifetime and post-death planning), to cover advice on the preparation of Wills and powers of attorney, charitable legacy giving, tax (including inheritance tax, capital gains tax and income tax), trust planning.
A good working knowledge of trust management, with reference to the firm's dedicated Trust Administration team (as required)
Negotiating with tax authorities as necessary
Dealing with assets in different countries and foreign Wills.
Skills & Experience
Strong technical competence and intellectual ability (STEP qualification preferred)
Good communication skills (verbal and written) and high levels of client care
Confident and personable
Well regarded in their current position
Able to demonstrate team working attitude and examples of acting as a good role model for others in the team
Proven ability to supervise and delegate effectively Demonstrable experience of managing relationships with clients and third parties
Flexible
IT literate
