It's our vision to enable the UK to become the most digitally advanced education and research nation in the world. It's a bold statement, but one that we're determined to fulfil.
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for the development of Jisc's internal and external communications channels. You will lead the development of the communications strategy and implementation of annual plans across Jisc to ensure we are positioned as the 'go to' organisation for higher education and further education technology matters.
A key element will be the responsibility for planning, managing and delivering an integrated corporate communications strategy that positions Jisc as a credible, knowledgeable and trustworthy organisation externally, in particular in the eyes of the media and UK-wide government.
You'll also drive employee engagement through a credible and coordinated internal communications process, and by coordinating messages across the organisation.
You'll advise our executive leadership team and other senior managers on communications issues and strategy and manage the organisation's crisis and continuity plans, providing overall leadership for communications, setting the vision for Jisc communications for all employees.
About you
To be successful, you will need to demonstrate:
- A track record of success leading a communications function
- Success delivering effective, timely and relevant corporate communications outputs and activities
- A track record of successful project management at a senior level with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities.
- Experience of successfully problem solving and identifying effective solutions in complex organisations
- Success at delivering within defined budgets and long terms financial planning for a function including staffing levels
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
- Success as both a strategic and analytical thinker with an ability to deliver to operational imperatives and opportunities
- That you are a motivational leader with success in managing a wide range of peers, colleagues and team members, including virtual teams with evidence of negotiation, influencing and diplomacy skills
