You will be required to perform engineering activities within the photonic components Pilot Line product development and manufacturing team. This team develops and manufactures packaged transmitters and receivers for high bit rate optical communication systems.
Role and Responsibilities:
+ Knowledgeable graduate engineer, preferably with experience in designing and commissioning automated test equipment (ATEs) for optoelectronics components. Will join a product development and pilot line manufacturing team and contribute to the development and introduction to manufacture of new packaged components for optical transmission systems.
+ The role will involve input to the design of new products, build of proto-types to demonstrate product feasibility, development of processes and process equipment that can be transferred into manufacture to enable production of new designs. A close link with the NPI and manufacturing teams will be required to ensure products & process are designed to be manufactured within the tolerance capabilities of designated manufacturing equipment.
+ Responsible for designing and implementing automated test solutions covering all aspects of the process including software, firmware and hardware. Responsible for improvement activities to maximise capital efficiency (test time reduction, re-test rate reduction ), technician training and process documentation (AOI).
Carry out specific maintenance and preventative activities to ensure functional continuity of the production line is guaranteed without constraining demand.
Skills and Experience:
Honours degree or equivalent in any scientific or technology based subject
Any text based programming language
Ability of understanding analog and digital electronic schematics
PCB soldering skills
Visual Basic (either .NET or VB6)
National Instruments products (Teststand, LabWindows)
MCAD and ECAD
Experienced working with opto-electronics devices (Laser, modulators, detectors )
Microprocessor architecture and firmware
Microsoft Visual Studio .NET or Matlab or C
