Great opportunity within Pay360 for a Linux Systems Engineer to join our team in Bath to work on our Enterprise Fraud product suite within an Agile setting
About the role :
We are investing heavily in our Enterprise Fraud product suite and require a skilled systems engineer to support Product & Development in delivering a substantial programme of change for 2017 and beyond. Your role is to ensure the product meets the performance goals, whilst being secure, resilient and manageable, and then bring the product into service with the operations and infrastructure teams. You will need to establish a change capability along ensuring the service is monitored and KPI are being published and tracked.
The product is based on the big data streaming technologies, you'll be using Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, ZooKeeper, NodeJS, Spring Boot along with realtime rules engine and Machine Learning.
We're a full agile setting and you'll be expected to work in both Scrum and Kanban depending on the work stream you're engaging with. You will be the lead on the systems side, and will be seconded by someone from the infrastructure team.
You will be expected to perform sysadmin duties with the operations team for approximately 50% of the time, this is to familiarise yourself with the environment, the subject matter and established practices and ways of working.

Engage with technical teams and areas of expertise to verify solution is fit for purpose and meeting their needs.

Provide system engineering support to the project through use of a devops tool chain
*
Build a performance and capacity testing capability to be used for optimisation and quality assurance change mgmt
*
Establish a non-service impacting change capability for the solution.
*
Spend 50% of your time in the operations team operating the payment processing platform
*
Ensure the service is monitored and metrics are being logged
*
Attend business and customer meetings as required
*
Work within teams using agile Scrum and Kanban
Your experience will include:

Strong Linux & systems expertise
*
Experience with streaming technologies and solution in a product environment.
*
Scripting languages: Python, Bash, Groovy, JavaScript
*
Experience of automated and continuous deployment systems and software
*
Experience of high availability systems and resilience approaches
*
Monitoring and reporting on systems state and performance
*
Good problem solving and organisational skills
*
Experience of configuration, tuning, optimization and trouble-shooting activities
*
Good communication skills - Verbal & written
*
Good team player, with the ability to work under own initiative and to deadline
