Salary up to £22,030 per annum + company van and fuel + competitive benefits package

We are looking for Meter Readers to join our meter reading team at Essex & Suffolk Water. We work from our Head Office in Chelmsford and operate throughout Essex where we supply clean, clear drinking water to our Customers.

We need Meter Readers who can help us deliver an unrivalled customer experience. We will give you full training, a vehicle, mobile phone, uniform, tools and a competitive salary.

You will be working in a family friendly environment, in a supportive team and have plenty of opportunity for development within our business. We're looking for resourceful people with great communication skills who value the ability to plan their own day within defined working hours.

As a Meter Reader you will:

• Talk to customers – be naturally calm and polite, able to listen and respond with clarity and respect.

   

  Plan and manage your time effectively to meet your daily targets – have a flexible ‘can-do’ approach to your work.

   

  Have experience of working outdoors in all weathers. The role is physically demanding and you will need good levels of personal fitness.

   

  Carry out meter replacements - have practical hands on skills to be trained to replace defective meters.

   

To be a successful Meter Reader you will need:

• GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English.

   

  A full valid UK driving licence. As a meter reader you will cover all parts of our Essex operational area. You will receive a company van to enable you to do your job efficiently – experience of driving a van would be desirable.

   

  To be flexible to work on a set rota basis. The normal working week is 37 hours, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 0700-2000.
