Client Accountant
Job Purpose:
To be responsible for and manage a portfolio of clients (initially Recruitment Agencies) for all bookkeeping, VAT and year-end accounts services.
Accountabilities:
*Manage a portfolio of clients, working pro-actively to ensure that client details are kept up to date at all times and that they are contacted regularly in relation to their accounts and tax position
*Introduce services and ensure that the client is comfortable and confident with the systems being utilised
*Handle bookkeeping and VAT return preparation for clients within your portfolio
*Prepare year end accounts, financial statements and company, tax computations for clients
*Prepare business and personal tax computations for client owners
*Provide support on payroll services and preparation of payroll annual returns and P11D's
*Prepare Self Assessments and personal tax computations and returns
*Assist with the control and management of the cash flow for the client businesses
*Reduce the burden of taxation on the businesses and their owners with effective tax planning and advice
*Liaise with HMRC and Companies House to resolve queries for the clients
*Work with the Accounts Assistant to ensure that queries in relation to Invoicing, Banking and Management Accounts are handle effectively and efficiently
*Any other duties that are deemed necessary to support the business.
Role Relationships and Reporting Lines:
The role holder will report to the SME Accounts Manager and will work closely alongside an Accounts Assistant managing a portfolio of clients who they will liaise with via email and telephone and occasionally on a face to face basis. Internally the role holder will have close working relationships with the payroll teams and Sales and Marketing.
Necessary Requirements
*2 to 3 years' experience of working in a similar environment, managing a high-volume portfolio of customers
*Experience of extracting data in to excel spreadsheets and then manipulating the information in meaningful reports
*Can work with a high degree of accuracy, under pressure and to deadlines
*Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA
Package
*GBP25,000 to GBP30,000 depending on experience
*Holidays - 23 days to start plus bank holidays and a day off for birthday. Increases to 25 after 2 years' service and 27 after 5 years' service
*Auto-enrolment into the pension scheme after a 3-month deferment period with an employer contribution of 5% of basic pay. Employees are not required to contribute at this point in time
*Annual Bonus scheme payable based on company profits, linked directly to individual performance (up to 15% of basic salary), payable October
*Death in Service 4 x annual salary
*Free on-site parking, free tea and coffee and free fruit
