We have an exciting, permanent opportunity for a number of actuaries to join the Actuarial Projects team in Edinburgh. We are recruiting at all levels from nearly qualified to senior levels. The actuaries will work on various projects across Group Actuarial and the wider Royal London Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out financial analysis using complex actuarial and analytical techniques to support project work across the Group and support delivery of key strategic and tactical objectives.
  • Monitor and check the quality of the financial analysis performed by other team members to ensure accuracy and provide feedback to the originator.
  • Provide actuarial support and leadership to projects as required, challenging decisions and providing direction as necessary.
  • Takes a leading role in making the project happen and provides updates to project/senior management/boards/committees.
  • Drive continuous improvements across the project team.
  • Identifies areas in projects which have high levels of risk and escalates to management; with suggestions for improvements as necessary.
  • Seek and use innovative solutions to progress the project efficiently where appropriate.
  • Have a high knowledge of similar projects taking place across the industry.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Nearly Qualified or Qualified Actuary (ie FIA or FFA) with relevant professional experience.
  • Strong financial modelling experience, with experience of assessing project impacts on key metrics such as Solvency II, EEV and IFRS.
  • Experience in some or all of the following areas is desirable:
    • Corporate restructuring (including use of Part VI transfers and Schemes of Arrangement)
    • Capital optimisation/reinsurance
    • IT simplification/migration projects
    • Process re-engineering
  • Highly proficient in use of relevant computer systems and packages.
  • Highly developed communication skills, verbal, written and listening.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with colleagues, senior managers, boards and committees across the department and the wider business and to third parties and external bodies.
