As a result of 25%+ year on year growth, a newly created role has arisen for a Head of Thin Film Process Engineering. This is a strategic role to support the companies move into a new purpose-built world class advanced manufacturing facility that has been commissioned and is scheduled for completion in 2018. Please note this role is based in Taunton, relocation can be provided for the right candidate.

It is part of a growing US Nasdaq listed multinational company that employs over 1500 people around the world. Using a variety of innovative manufacturing procedures including semiconductor related processing technology, the company manufacture both complex high volume / low-value products as well as high value/ low volume or unique one-off products.

As the Head of Thin Film Process Engineering, you will be responsible for:

- Taking ownership of and developing/implementing new Thin Film PVD process technology initiatives to enable a smooth and efficient transition to the new facility for new and existing products
- Planning R&D projects, troubleshooting critical procedures and providing technical expertise and guidance
- Leading technical teams and coordinating activities for the manufacture, development and implementation of new optical products and coating technologies

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

- BSc Degree, ideally at MSc, equivalent or above in an engineering or science related discipline - preferably in physics, optics or mechanical engineering
- Demonstrable hands-on team leadership level process engineering experience of working in a semiconductor related Thin Film PVD or advanced optical coatings/electro-optics manufacturing environment
- Excellent theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of high vacuum thin-film PVD technology and applications ideally within semiconductor or optics manufacturing
- A strong understanding of SPC and related yield improvement methodologies
- The ability to resolve complex technical problems, demonstrating an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness to develop and implement solutions

In return, you will receive a salary of GBP55,000 - GBP60,000 plus benefits including private healthcare, life assurance, 25 days holiday and pension contribution scheme.

The role is based in Taunton, relocation can be provided for the right candidate (Typically a fund to cover probation period property rental plus removal costs/legal expenses).
