As a result of 25%+ year on year growth, a newly created role has arisen for a Principal Polishing Process Engineer. This is a strategic role to support the companies move into a new purpose-built world class advanced manufacturing facility that has been commissioned and is scheduled for completion in 2018. Please note this role is based in Taunton, relocation can be provided for the right candidate.
The company is recognised as a global leader in the advanced manufacturing of specialist products for leading-edge technology applications. It is part of a growing US Nasdaq listed multinational company that employs over 1500 people around the world. Using a variety of innovative manufacturing procedures including semiconductor related processing technology, the company manufacture both complex high volume / low-value products as well as high value/ low volume or unique one-off products.
As the Principal Polishing Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Taking ownership of and developing/implementing new technology initiatives to enable a smooth and efficient transition to the new facility for new and existing products.
- Developing a deep understanding of optical polishing needs, methods and process equipment requirements and driving and improving yield throughout the manufacturing process
- Defining process parameters and understanding the implication of variables in order to optimise each process to gain best product results - focusing on eliminating defects and reducing cycle times
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- HND / degree equivalent or above in a science or engineering related subject
- Demonstrable hands-on process engineering experience of working within a back-end polishing, grinding or CMP semiconductor process discipline or related optics and inspection environment
- Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of polishing equipment for pitch removal and post-plating processes, including familiarity with lapping and semi-automated cleaning equipment operation, optical metrology, common slurries and pads
- In-depth understanding of mechanisms for dielectric and metal coated optics or equivalent related to semiconductor wafers/devices
- Ideally experienced in the requirements of optical cleaning and handling or equivalent for semiconductor wafers/devices or optics
In return, you will receive a salary of GBP45,000 - GBP50,000 plus benefits including private healthcare, life assurance, 25 days holiday and pension contribution scheme.
The role is based in Taunton, relocation can be provided for the right candidate (Typically a fund to cover probation period property rental plus removal costs/legal expenses)
