Two year fixed-term contract
St John's College is looking to appoint a School Liaison and Access Officer for a period of two years. This role is essential to the College's Widening Participation and Outreach work. The role involves designing, co-ordinating and assisting in the delivery of admissions-related activities and events in order to increase applications and to widen participation in Higher Education from areas and groups under-represented at Cambridge.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and have a good understanding of Secondary and Higher Education in the UK. You will have first-rate IT skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be committed to the principles of widening participation and student recruitment and have an ability to convey enthusiasm for the value of Higher Education. The role requires initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will also have a flexible approach to work as the role requires travel throughout the UK and working some unsociable hours. Previous experience of working in the education sector would be an advantage.
The College offers a competitive benefits package including a Christmas bonus, 36 days' annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), access to a ‘cash plan' healthcare scheme currently provided by Simplyhealth, lunch at College expense (up to a specified monetary limit) and free parking close to the College site.
The closing date for the receipt of completed applications is 12 noon on Thursday 3 August 2017.
Interviews are expected to be held on week commencing 21 August 2017.
